Home things

I can't wait till I can afford to live in my own place - even if I have to share it with a roommate. At least I'll be able to decorate my room as I see fit. In the mean time, I'll have to dream while I read:

1. http://www.designsponge.com/

2. http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/

3. http://thewillowshomeandgarden.blogspot.com/

And, get ideas of what NOT to do with little reads like this one: http://uglyhousephotos.com/

Bedrooms

My ADD has kicked in and cleaning my room is no longer a priority... I must show you all of the unbelievably inspiring kids' bedrooms I found... Some kids have all the luck.

Cleaning my room...

feels so damn good. I'm just focusing on de-cluttering, re-folding/hanging and throwing stuff out. Clothing that I haven't worn in the past 6 months go to Plato's closet, Hannah's closet (my niece) or Salvation Army. I don't worry too much about decor because, after all, I'm stilling living with the rents, so I don't get to make the decorating decisions - Susan does.

New Opportunities

Woah. March has flown by... I cannot believe it's almost April! A lot has changed in my life and, although it is stressful, I am, finally, starting to feel good about everything.

I left JOB A (I don't feel comfortable including my actual places of employment), a job I have worked since I graduated Central Michigan University in May 2010. I had been extremely unhappy at JOB A, so it was a huge relief to put in my two weeks and start the search for new employment. I grew a lot while at JOB A and I learned a ton about selling, buying and managing, but it was my time to experience something new.

I took a part-time position at JOB B and, even though, I'm on call a lot and I am not getting paid as much as I was at JOB A, I am happier and I look forward to work. I am excited to be in a more structured, yet uniquely innovative, working environment. Everyone I work with at JOB B went or goes to school for fashion and art and I'm inspired. I still have to find another part-time JOB C though, so I'll probably be serving you a beer in the near future.

Things I Feel in Love with Today

I shopped Anthropologie in downtown Birmingham, Michigan today and found a few items that I couldn't live without.

1. http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/product/clothes-skirts/24298713.jsp - The girl in the floral shirt & yellow Tucked Tiered Skirt - I am the proud new owner of both. I will wear them together with shirt tucked in (bohemian preppy) and separate. I know I'll be able to match the floral shirt with the next item too!

2. http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/product/clothes-skirts/24539207.jsp - I'm 6'2", so I happily surprised by how long the Esker Maxi Skirt is. I haven't found one that long ever, so it was simply fate that it came home with me.

3. I can't find this little ditty on Anthropologie's website, but it's absolutely fabulous. Black, drapey, asymmetrical hemp with an open neck line. I think it will look fabulous with the Esker Maxi or tucked into the Tucked Tiered Skirt.

So stoked to sport my threads! If I remember, I'll post some pictures of me in them! :)

Food Snob

I saw the Quiznos commercial for their newest creation, the Lobster & Seafood Salad Sub. I don't like to think of myself as a food snob, but this looks absolutely disgusting. Lobster is delectable and should be served in a fresh environment with butter or in a bisque, not in a fast food sub chain. I can't imagine it tastes like the real thing anyway and I shudder to think about how many calories one consumes if they eat it. YUCK!!

(I apologize if I offend any Lobster & Seafood Salad Sub-loving folks!)

Weekend Weather High

I have a natural, sun-kissed tan in March...in Michigan. Yes, I am still enjoying the weekend weather high I've been on since last week and I don't think I'm alone. Everywhere I am people have their car windows rolled down, the music on, smiles on their faces - everyone is feeling the buzz. Thank you, Mother Nature! I'd totally give you big high five if I could. WOO HOO!

Color Spring 2012

I love Spring and Summer. They are my two favorite seasons and the best times to shop! Newness is surrounding me and I'm so inspired by everything I see.

Personal Shopping

I have always been on the search for THE perfect fitting jeans, THE prettiest summer dress and THE most comfortable pair of flats. They exist, I know they do, but I just have to track them down, which is why I'm always online shopping, window browsing, trying things on and, of course, making purchases.

I truly believe that everyone has their own style and not everything looks good on everyone. There are certain silhouettes, colors and styles that compliment one person, but do the opposite for another. I know that shopping and styling can be extremely frustrating, but with the right person, helping you find what looks good; it can be enjoyable. That's where I come into play - I'm the person who figures out your true size, helps you find colors that compliment your natural beauty, encourages you to try new brands and makes shopping & styling easier than you ever imagined.

I earned a Bachelor's in Applied Arts from Central Michigan University, studying Apparel Merchandising and Art. I incorporate my education with my experience, to make sure you get the best service possible. I'm determined to help you find your personal style and maintain it!

Check out my craigslist advertisement here: http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/bts/2910352703.html or email me to set up an appointment! My email is shoppingeak@gmail.com.

I look forward to working with you!

Musica

Summer is all about NEW! New clothing, shoes, hang outs, vacations, food and, my favorite, music! I swear the best new beats come out just in time for summer kick off!

My numero uno at the moment is Feel So Close by Calvin Harris, a genius in the music industry.

Imagine

The kid playing guitar, Luc Nyhus, and I went to high school together. Now he's in Nashville, making big moves and doing what he loves. Plus, her voice is enchanting and I love the lighting and camera angle.

St. Patty's Day

One of my favorite holidays of the year is quickly approaching and I cannot wait to celebrate it. I know I'll be making some lovely chocolate cupcakes with green frosting, just like Grandma Kenny used to do it, from scratch. Can anyone say, "YUM?"

So Young and So Confused

I am only 23, about to turn 24 in July, and I am hopelessly confused. Did I pick the wrong career path? Do I go back to school? How do I win the lottery (just kidding, sorta)? Oh, life's toughest questions; will they every be answered?

1. Maybe I should have worked retail before deciding to graduate with a retail career path. If I had done it that way, I probably would have picked something in the business world, where the hours are regular and I would, usually, only be working Monday through Friday.

2. I can't afford to go back to school full-time, but, perhaps, I should start taking a few marketing classes, so I can find jobs in the fashion marketing. I will always love fashion, clothing, shopping, however, I will never love the hours of retail - working every weekend, working late nights and early mornings, never enjoying the holidays. I don't think I'm cut out for this type of work.

Quit my job this week. Now the hunt is on, more than ever, and I will not settle. I will find what I want and I will make it work. Or, maybe, I should just win the lottery.

Sorel Women's Picnic Weave

I seem to be on a giant shoe kick right now! Fell in love with these lovies last week while visiting Moosejaw in Birmingham, Michigan. Once I start making some reliable income, I'll be purchasing a pair!

Elephants

I was fortunate enough to be channel surfing when I became mesmerized by PBS' Unforgettable Elephant's special about Echo's Family Tree. Echo was a female elephant matriarch, living in the wild, who was filmed and studied for more than 15 years by Martyn Colbeck. Colbeck shares with us the trials and triumphs that Echo and her family endure, from births, kidnappings, battles and friendships. Not going to lie, I loved learning about Echo, her family and their lives.

To read more about it, watch videos or view pictures, click on the link: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/unforgettable-elephants/introduction/4487/ Even if you're not as fond as Elephants as I am, you have to admit; this is one cute baby elephant!
